SUMMARY
A Michigan judge was taken aback when Corey Harris, who was facing charges for driving with a suspended license, joined his Zoom court hearing while driving a car. Judge J. Cedric Simpson noticed Harris was behind the wheel and questioned him, to which Harris nonchalantly replied that he was pulling into his doctor's office. This blatant disregard for the law led the judge to express disbelief, noting Harris's lack of a valid license. Consequently, Judge Simpson revoked Harris's bond and sentenced him to jail time, ordering him to turn himself in by 6 p.m.
During the hearing, Harris's attorney attempted to downplay the situation, but Judge Simpson was unimpressed, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense. The judge pointed out that Harris's actions demonstrated a blatant disrespect for the legal process and traffic laws. As Harris's face dropped, the judge reiterated the need for accountability, underscoring the importance of adhering to the law even under scrutiny. This unusual court incident highlighted the sometimes astonishing behavior defendants exhibit during virtual proceedings.
NEWSCRITICISM
The nature of law and its proceeding mechanism-results to carry out the system of law (such as implementing justice to the violators) is impacted when technology comes into the scene of evolution and development. When the Material and the Hypermaterial worlds collide with each other, it will bring some form of change from one another; the inclusion of technology (Material) into the legal system (or just law and its nature), which is Hypermaterial, makes for a lot of results and consequences that would happen in the process of integrating factors. A lot of good and bad things will happen, depending on the circumstances in existence that will affect its nature as time moves naturally forward. This one, with the adoption of new technology, is a good example of such cases. It is up to the agents of existence in a Thing in existence on how to proceed with this new cause and effect that would affect the nature of law.
What the judge did (probably its first time) is a sign of good conduct between the utilization of the Material to affect the need to proceed in the change of a situtation regarding a Hypermaterial nature - one that can be exploited or abused or something that results in the negative, if mishandled at will. The infamy (although minor for some, actually has major repercussions - the major repercussion of utilizing technology to hide misgivings, and its reverse) resulted by the evidence of breaking the law by the driver in that video warrants a punishment bad enough because of this... incident. Such cases of disobedience by the premises and wills of the law will be common as the people are becoming familiar with new developments in legal technology in order to become efficient with handling the law, and potentially speed up the case procedures, especially for minor offences.
The Judge did a good job of handling the case by professional standards and utilized the technology to spot "misgivings" in the conduct of law. Of what good technology is in the eyes of the law if used properly? The answer: the good of detecting action-evidences in regards to detect misgivings in the law!
Thus the need for more legal innovations that will accomodate legal technology in the future, to be utilized by society and of civilizations one day across the globe.
